Bear and the dragon audibook torrent download
As is evidenced by my other reviews, I'm hardly a book critic or a literary connoisseur, but I sure do love me some Jack Ryan. It appears that several of these Jack Ryan books are available in duplicate versions, ones read by Scott Brick and one by Michael Pritchard. I enjoy both authors, but suggest that as much as you can, stick to one narrator or the other; it does greatly help with the flow. I had enjoyed the Jack Ryan series through to this book. Executive orders was a bit on the long end, but with a dramatic premise that was engaging.
See good reads for pretty accurate more detailed reviews of the plot. I enjoy Michael Prichard's other readings, but the combination of repetitive political narratives and enough 'I hate this job' Jack Ryan jibes that get old over two books , unnecessarily crude language, slow plot, and the narrator's performance made for one of few audio books I was unable to finish.
If you could sum up The Bear and the Dragon in three words, what would they be? Exciting, to a point ; technology and government. What did you like best about this story? Made the Russians look like they were human and made the Chinese look really, really stupid.
In other words, we get to deploy our best toys against a completely outmatched army and demonized Chinese. Describing combat prep and combat Clancy excelled. Did the narration match the pace of the story?
No one could talk that slow. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? No, WAY too long and obscure. I don't want to sit in a chair for nearly 4 days straight.
I couldn't say awake long enough. What disappointed you about The Bear and the Dragon? Way too much detail, stories fell into the ditch. Ending was great, no idea what's in the middle and don't care. Very disappointed with Tom or whoever wrote this book. I even speeded the playback up to 1. What was your reaction to the ending? No spoilers please! Sure happy the right team won. He did good! What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I've been reading Clancy's books for many years, and I always look forward to the next John Ryan book in the series. This one was a big disappointment, for a few major reasons: 1. Weak Plot: most Clancy novels are chess games, with a good portion of the book devoted to maneuvering pieces into place, then pitting them against each other in a big battle at the end but with lots of technical details and some character work thrown in for good measure.
This one felt like a LOT of maneuvering with a relatively boring payoff in the end. Too Preachy: the author's conservative biases which have always been a part of his books came through quite a bit louder in this novel than I've noticed in others.
I heard notes of homophobia, pro-life ranting, and racism. In the past, I've chalked these up to the prejudices of each character which are unavoidable, of course but this time it felt like the author's own biases coming through Mediocre Narration: I wouldn't call him a "bad" narrator, but his voice often enhanced the boring-ness of the plot.
Overall, this one was a slog for me. I'm ready for my next listen to be something both exciting and engaging. The story highlights Greed, a country on the fringe of becoming economically stable, and unusuall alliances Something here for all readers And vulnerablity by strong people.
Worth a credit any day Michael Prichard turns in a great job reading. Some of the language is a little bit dated but excellent story and well told. Tom Clancy books excel at keeping multiple plot lines racing along while building the overall story to a crescendo. The Bear and the Dragon is terrifyingly possible and gives us a glimpse of an alternative political reality. Highly recommended.
This book was a real disappointment with a mediocre reader. He made no attempt to give accents to the different characters so it was hard to know if it was supposed to be a Chinese or Russian speaking.
It's very repetitive and the dialogue is clunky. Don't bother with this one. Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Michael Prichard? Narrator: Michael Prichard. Unabridged: 43 hr 6 min. Format: Digital Audiobook. Publisher: Random House Audio.
Making up such an experience as diverse as well as likewise amusing can not be simple. Doing so with such elaborate expertise of our military, exactly how it functions as well as likewise the variety of devices it uses needs to be preventing.
Looking into virtually web pages most definitely was! Component means with acknowledged I had presently evaluate it, yet just enough time ago that I needed to wind up. The personality improvements are limited nevertheless detailed, producing is superb do not identify if Clancy can do negative , and also thriller abounds.
Generally, there are some shoot outs yet not exceptionally visuals. However, I will certainly admit to glancing recaps of inhumane treatment of family pets. Democrats and also Liberals are mimicing Nazis, fascists to be clear.
Quit Mueller, Jail the Clintons as well as likewise Comey put the hinge on notice. The lessons from this magazine associate with you … make sure, there a large portion of Americans that truly feel the like Ryan, which coincides as Head of state Trump, either obtain with th e program, America First or simply shut the heck up. Pages: 1 2 3 4. I was completely prepared not to be particularly delighted with this magazine, although I have in fact delighted in seeing the movie different times for years. However, when Clancy composed it he was still marketing insurance policy protection in Owings, Maryland. What could he potentially find out about submarines? I was actually gladly surprised. The Hunt for Red October is a remarkably craftedbook The personalities are well attracted as well as likewise trusted, tale is favorably elaborate, in addition to the thickness of technological details provides the credibility that an individual prepares for in a leading ranking technothriller.
Involving personalities, superb story, well- understood configuration, heart- battering thriller right to the last couple of web pages.
I need to declare I saw the movie, Hunt for Red October at first. My hubby purchased the book for me on an impulse. The book variation was incredibly close tiny kind. Considered that we were taking a trip to Florida I chose to acquire the Kindle version, exceptional choice.
Initially I thought overview was a mirror of the flick, yet after time I understood it was much much better than the flick. Tom Clancy is an exceptional writer in addition to he positions you right into the activity. With an excellent imaginative creativity you can see the entire magazine in 3D!
The deepness no word play right here planned of the information was impressive. I review this magazine years back. It was my intro to Tom Clancy and also I have in fact been a specialized fan because. I determined to return as well as likewise evaluate the whole Jack Ryan tale in consecutive order beginning with Patriot Gamings and afterwards Red Rabbit and also extra.
The Hunt for Red October is just an excellent read. In addition to while the chilly battle mores than, the tale is still ageless in addition to pertinent.
He leaves you starving for the complying with phase in the legend. I miss him badly as well as likewise will excitedly wait for the initiatives to continue his task that will absolutely be made by the several competent writers Tom touched with his interest for informing an engaging as well as likewise amazing story. If you have actually reviewed this book, return and also evaluate it once more, if you have in fact never ever before evaluate it afterwards do so as well as likewise you likewise will certainly wind up being hooked on the life of John Patrick Ryan.
As an outcome of evaluating Hunt for Red October, I subscribed for submarine obligation. It is not an exaggeration for me to declare that this story transformed my life. I have in fact never ever before been sorry for the choice to sign up with subs. Without providing any type of sort of looters, it is adequate to state that this the Clancy thriller that started everything for Jack Ryan as well as likewiseClancy Suggest this tale to all Clancy fans!
